The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) announced a missile strike on two US Navy destroyers. This was reported on September 9 by the Press TV channel with reference to the statement of the corps.
"The IRGC announced successful missile strikes against two US Navy destroyers, DDG—119 and DDG-53, equipped with cruise missiles and the Aegis combat system," the Telegram channel says.
It is noted that the attack was carried out in response to the US actions against Iranian oil tankers and ships.
On September 8, the Central Command of the US Armed Forces reported that five Iranian tankers carrying crude oil were destroyed after two attempts by the IRGC to attack an American warship with ballistic missiles. The US Navy ship was able to evade the attacks and continued patrolling the waters of the region.
