On September 8, Iran's state-owned IRIB television and radio company reported that the United States had attacked two Iranian tankers near the waters of Jask. Then the Iranian side fired missiles at American targets in Jordan, namely at the Prince Hassan and Muwaffaq al-Salti air bases. The Jordanian Air Force scrambled fighter jets to intercept the missiles.
