Over the past day, 323 road accidents were recorded on Russian roads, in which 34 people were killed and 380 injured. 30 of the dead were drivers and passengers. This was reported to Izvestia on September 8 by the State Traffic Inspectorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia.

As a result of 76 accidents involving pedestrians, four people were killed, and 73 more were injured in various degrees of severity. Among the injured are 20 child pedestrians, 13 of whom were injured when crossing the roadway in unintended places. Of the total number of pedestrian incidents, 32 occurred at pedestrian crossings and 44 outside their area of operation. 27 bus accidents were recorded, in which one person was killed, and 30 more road users, including two children, needed medical attention. 13 bus accidents were caused by traffic violations committed by their drivers. In addition, 50 accidents involving minors were registered, in which 50 young road users were injured, including 15 passengers and six motor transport drivers. One child passenger was killed.

In the Stavropol Territory, on 12 km of the Alexandrovsk — Kropotkin regional highway, a crossover driver, driving around a dog that ran out onto the roadway, lost control and drove into the oncoming lane, where he collided with another passenger car. Three passengers of an oncoming car were killed in the accident, one of whom was a six—year-old girl who was riding in the back in a child restraint. Four passengers of the crossover were also injured in the accident: three needed hospitalization, and one passenger was treated on the spot.

In the Altai Territory, a passenger car driver decided to skip an adjustable railway crossing at a traffic light forbidding him to move, but collided with a shunting locomotive. As a result of the accident, the passenger of the car was killed, and its driver and another passenger were hospitalized.

The State Traffic Inspectorate urges drivers to be attentive, collected and disciplined when driving vehicles. The driver should refrain from risky driving, exceeding the permitted speed limit, sudden changes of lanes, overtaking and other dangerous maneuvers. It is necessary to leave a reserve of time in order to have time to adequately respond to a possible change in the traffic situation, the department reminds.

"Special vigilance must be exercised when crossing railway crossings: this maneuver is considered particularly dangerous and requires the driver to concentrate, pay maximum attention and strictly follow the established rules. It is strictly forbidden to leave the road when the barrier is closed or closing, or when the traffic light or crossing attendant is forbidding. A driver moving through a railway crossing should be extremely careful at night, as well as in adverse weather conditions and limited visibility," said Police Colonel Sergey Hrantskevich, head of the Department for Road Safety Promotion and Prevention of Child traffic injuries at the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia.

He also recalled that in emergency situations, for example, when a car stopped at a crossing due to a breakdown, the driver must immediately disembark the people inside and take measures to free the crossing - tow or push the car off the rails.

Amendments to the rules for conducting maintenance have entered into force.

On September 6, the press center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia reported that in order to return a driver's license after the expiration of the period of deprivation of rights, a citizen must pass a theoretical exam, pay all debts on fines and, in some cases, undergo a medical examination. The agency explained that a prerequisite is to verify knowledge of the rules of the road. In addition, the document will not be returned until the fines for administrative offenses in the field of traffic are fully paid.
