Dmitry Donskoy's relics were brought to the Saur-Grave memorial complex in the DPR
The small ark with the relics of the holy Prince Dmitry Donskoy was delivered to the Saur-Grave memorial complex in the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR). The footage was shown on September 8 by Izvestia correspondent Evgeny Bykovsky.
He said that exactly 646 years ago, a legendary event took place on Kulikovo Field, when the troops of the holy prince defeated Khan Mamai.
"And today, on this significant day, the relics of St. Prince Dmitry Donskoy were brought to this legendary height, which were miraculously discovered as a result of archaeological work," Bykovsky said.
The ark was placed next to the chapel on the mound. A festive prayer service was held there, attended by First Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration of the Russian Federation Sergey Kiriyenko, head of the DPR Denis Pushilin and head of the Lugansk People's Republic Leonid Pasechnik.
After staying at the memorial complex, the shrine is planned to be delivered to the line of combat contact. This will allow Russian servicemen to pray at the relics of the holy prince.
On September 7, the relics of Prince Dmitry Donskoy were exhibited in the Moscow Cathedral of Christ the Savior. Worship will last until September 20th. Everyone can venerate the shrine. On September 4, Vakhtang Kipshidze, Deputy Chairman of the Synodal Department of the Moscow Patriarchate for Church-Society Relations and the Media, announced that the opportunity to worship the relics of the holy Prince would be provided for military personnel in the military training area.
On August 20, Russian President Vladimir Putin arrived at the Archangel Cathedral, where the remains of the Grand Duke were discovered during restoration work. There, the head of state took part in a prayer service. During his visit to the cathedral, Putin was shown a shrine with Donskoy's relics and told exactly how the restorers managed to gain access to the sarcophagus with them. He called the finding of the relics unique and amazing.
