Scientists predicted the impacts of plasma clouds on the Earth on September 8th and 9th

On September 8 and 9, at least two solar plasma impacts caused by multiple solar flares are expected on Earth. This was announced on September 7 at the Laboratory of Solar Astronomy at the Institute of Space Research (IKI) of the Russian Academy of Sciences.

According to space coronagraphs and numerical simulation results, solar activity has been increasing for several days. Almost all outbursts are accompanied by large plasma clouds. Although most of them pass by, according to calculations, two or three clouds will hit the planet within the next two days.

The scientists noted that space weather can be thrown out of balance for at least three days. The first changes in the speed of the solar wind can be registered as early as the evening of September 8. The peak of disturbances is expected on the night of September 10, when the speed of the solar wind may reach 700 km/s, which is almost twice the current values.

"The forecast for magnetic storms is moderate at the moment. Multiple prolonged geomagnetic disturbances are expected with periodic access to magnetic storms of levels 1 and 2 (weak and medium)," the Telegram channel said.

Experts estimate the probability of more severe storms during this period as low. However, the IKI RAS emphasized that solar activity persists, and new plasma emissions may change this forecast for the worse.

On September 4, the Laboratory of Solar Astronomy at the Space Research Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences reported that multiple plasma emissions were recorded on the invisible side of the Sun. Then the scientists noted that for potential risks to appear, solar activity should persist for several more days.
