India announced the date of delivery of the latest batch of S-400 from Russia
The last of the S-400 anti-aircraft missile systems previously purchased from Russia will be delivered to India in November this year, while New Delhi is considering the possibility of concluding a new contract for the purchase of five more similar systems. About this on September 6th the Indian newspaper Hindustan Times reported.
"The last of the five S-400 systems purchased by the government of Narendra Modi in 2018 for the amount of $5.43 billion will arrive in India in November this year," the material says.
The sources of the publication explained that the decision to approve the purchase of five more S-400 divisions will be made by the Cabinet Committee on security after the final agreement on the value of the contract with Moscow and approval from the Ministry of Finance of India.
The fifth complex is planned to be deployed in the eastern part of the country to cover the border with China. At the same time, the issue of supplies of Russian air defense systems was previously casually touched upon at the talks between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the SCO summit in Bishkek, while the republic's authorities have not yet made a final decision on the purchase of fifth-generation Su-57 fighters.
On May 26, the Federal Service for Military-Technical Cooperation (FSMTC) of the Russian Federation reported that Moscow and New Delhi are negotiating the supply of an additional batch of S-400 Triumph long-range mobile air defense systems.
The purchase of the first batch of S-400s from Russia for 2.38 trillion rupees (about $25 billion) was approved by the Indian Ministry of Defense on March 27. This process, as explained in the department, also affected a wide range of weapons for the ground forces, the air force and the coast Guard.
