- The Interior Ministry explained the procedure for returning a driver's license after deprivation
To return a driver's license after the expiration of the period of deprivation of rights, a citizen must pass a theoretical exam, pay all outstanding fines and, in some cases, undergo a medical examination. This was announced on September 6 in the press center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia.
The agency explained that a prerequisite is to verify knowledge of the rules of the road. In addition, the document will not be returned until the fines for administrative offenses in the field of traffic are fully paid.
"A driver's license or a tractor driver's license <...> are returned after checking their knowledge of the rules of the road," TASS quoted the agency as saying.
The Interior Ministry added that when contacting the department of the State Traffic Inspectorate, a citizen must have an identity document with him. In cases stipulated by law, a medical opinion on the absence of contraindications to driving is also required.
A medical certificate for the return of a license is required if the deprivation was related to driving under the influence, refusing to undergo a medical examination, or leaving the scene of a traffic accident.
On August 31, the press service of the Ministry of Finance of Russia reported that electronic driver's licenses and vehicle registration certificates (CTC) can be presented to Traffic police officers along with traditional paper documents. Drivers will have the opportunity to generate a special QR code for their driver's license and STS directly in the Maks messenger for subsequent presentation to the inspector.
