Two sections of dedicated lanes will appear in the area of the Sokol metro station on September 26.

From September 26, two new sections of dedicated lanes will start operating at the intersection of Leningradskoye and Volokolamsk highways in Moscow. Their total length will be almost 1.5 km. This was announced on Friday, September 4, by Maxim Liksutov, Deputy Mayor of the capital for Transport and Industry.

According to him, new dedicated lanes will be opened in the area of the Sokol metro station. They will improve the operation of 11 land transport routes, which carry out more than 115 thousand trips daily. In addition, buses and electric buses of some routes will be able to drive closer to the tram U-turn ring, making it easier for passengers to transfer, the Moscow City News Agency reports.

The travel time of buses and electric buses will be halved from seven to 3.5 minutes on the Volokolamsk Highway understudy. At the exit from Leningradskoye Highway to the Volokolamsk Highway understudy, ground vehicles will cover the section three times faster — in five minutes instead of 17.

In early August, amendments to the federal law "On Road Safety" came into force in Russia, giving regions the right to independently determine which buses can use the allocated lanes, taking into account the specifics of urban and suburban infrastructure.
