The body of General Ratko Mladic was taken from the Netherlands to Belgrade airport. This was reported to Izvestia by journalist Sergey Petrov.

"A small government jet, but unmarked, brought Ratko Mladic's body here to Belgrade, to the Nikola Tesla Airport cargo terminal," he said.

The journalist added that the body was quickly taken away, accompanied by police.

The Serbian Informer TV channel reported on August 27 that Mladic, who was convicted of genocide, had died. The channel's editor-in-chief, Dragan Vucicevic, reporting on Mladic's death live, noted that it would be more correct to talk about the assassination of the general by The Hague Tribunal, rather than his death.

Chairman of the leading political party of Republika Srpska (Entity of Bosnia and Herzegovina) Milorad Dodik of the Union of Independent Social Democrats called the death of a former Bosnian Serb army commander a premeditated murder. Later, The Hague ordered an investigation into the circumstances of Mladic's death.
