The musical "Waltz-Boston" opens a new theatrical season at the Variety Theater

On September 6, the big premiere of the new season of the musical "Waltz-Boston" will take place at the Moscow Variety Theater. The show is timed to coincide with Alexander Rosenbaum's 75th birthday, and this evening the artist will take the stage with an unusual musical surprise. Nastasia Samburskaya will also take part in the screening, "Waltz-Boston" will be her first experience in the musical genre, and the choice of the role will surprise the audience.

During the first year, "Waltz-Boston" went beyond the theater stage, turning from a play into a large-scale cultural project. Today, his story is developing in several formats at once and continues to expand, keeping in touch with the original production. On the day of the premiere, the space of the Variety Theater will turn into the Waltz-Boston festival, the audience will be able to learn about a musical album, a novel based on the musical, and a documentary. Last fall, a music album with songs from the musical was released on streaming platforms and has already garnered more than 1,300,000 listeners.

In August, the premiere of the documentary "Life Happened: Once upon a Time at the Variety Theater" about the creation of a musical took place in the main competition of the 34th Window to Europe Festival. Today, the film is available on Kinopoisk and VK Videos. The rating of the film on Kinopoisk is 8.5 out of 10, and the number of views of the film in VK Videos has exceeded 550,000 viewers.

Based on the musical, a novel by Yana Mia was released, the audio version of which has collected more than ten thousand auditions. This fall, an art book about the amazing story of the creation of the musical "Waltz-Boston" will be presented.

During the first theatrical season, Waltz Boston became one of the notable musical performances in Moscow, received the Art Platform Award, was recognized as the best musical performance of the Dobrovision Festival and became a finalist for the Musical Heart of the Theater award in ten nominations. In the first year, more than 200 screenings took place, and the musical was watched by more than two hundred thousand viewers. The audience rating on Yandex Afisha is 9.1 out of 10.

In the second season, Waltz-Boston will introduce new formats for viewers. Starting on September 5, the play will be available with English and Chinese subtitles for the first time among permanent rental musicals: foreign viewers will be able to follow the plot, dialogues and songs in real time. Translated titles will be available for organized groups of 10 people or more upon prior request. The audience will also enjoy backstage tours accompanied by the actors of the musical: participants will be able to see the stage and backstage, get acquainted with the work of theater services and learn how the play is created. Traditionally, the theater will have a souvenir shop with original souvenirs.

The plot of the musical "Waltz-Boston" is based on the story of human fate, love and choice, which unfolds in the dangerous world of underground Rostov-on-Don at the beginning of the 20th century. The main character, a talented medical student Konstantin Romashin, stands on the threshold of a new life, however, instead of the last exam, fate leads him into a dangerous world of crime. Saving the life of a local thief, Konstantin finds himself drawn into his environment, meets love and makes a choice, the consequences of which will determine the rest of his life.

This is a story about the sharp turns of fate, when the lights of a big city, love, excitement and risk are spinning your head, and just one evening can cost you thirty years of life.

The musical is built around the songs of Alexander Rosenbaum, which become part of the dramatic plot and sound in modern arrangements. The play was directed by Mikhail Mironov, director of the box office musical "Don't be Afraid of Anything, I'm with you." The music producer and author of the arrangements is Evgeny Zagot. The music is performed by a live orchestra consisting of more than 40 musicians. Set design, video installations, costumes inspired by the era immerse the viewer in the atmosphere of the twenties of the last century.

A stellar creative team worked on the performance: Maria Danilova, a theatrical costume and set designer, winner of the Golden Mask, Chaika and K. S. Stanislavsky awards, Natalia Terekhova, choreographer, Maxim Obrezkov, and others.
