The prosecutor's office has filed an appeal against the verdict of the former head of the Main Military Construction Directorate (GVSU) for Special Facilities, Andrei Belkov, in the case of abuse of office in the procurement of a CT scanner for the needs of the Ministry of Defense. This was reported to Izvestia in court on September 3.

According to the investigation, he, being the director of the DHS for special facilities, organized fictitious competitive procedures for the implementation of the state defense order for the supply of a tomograph and secured a contract with Stroyhimproekt LLC for the supply of equipment for the 9th medical and diagnostic center of the Ministry of Defense for 121.7 million rubles.

At the same time, the actual cost of the CT scanner was lower, and the difference of 48 million rubles, according to investigators, was appropriated by the defendants in the case.

On August 25, Belkov was sentenced to six years in a penal colony, and also deprived of the right to hold positions in the civil service and in local government bodies related to the exercise of managerial functions for five years. He admitted his guilt.
