At the training center of the 11th Engineering Brigade of the Southern Group of Forces, military personnel are being trained to perform combat missions, including sapper work, using unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). This was reported to Izvestia on September 3 in the unit.

According to a student with the call sign Bumblebee, during the first week, military personnel master basic piloting skills and learn to understand the behavior of a drone in the air. Preparation begins with working on simulators.

"It was a little difficult at first, but we just put in the effort, we train, and everything works out," he told Izvestia correspondent Egor Kildibekov.

To maximize immersion in the conditions of combat work, the center's management posted large photographs of the real combat zone, including residential areas of Artemovsk, on the training site, the correspondent added.

The head of the training center with the call sign Gusar noted that the use of unmanned systems in engineering troops helps to ensure the actions of assault groups and conduct remote mine clearance of the area.

A soldier with the call sign Koshchey said that remote mine clearance has become a new area of use for UAVs for him. According to him, his unit uses disposable FPV drones more often, but the experience of the training center may be useful in the further work of the team.

On July 10, the press service of the Northern Fleet reported that military personnel of the units of the unmanned systems of the Northern Fleet were trained in the use of the Yelka interceptor drone equipped with artificial intelligence (AI). It is noted that for two days, industry representatives conducted theoretical and practical training sessions for military personnel on the effective use of an interceptor drone designed to destroy multi-rotor and aircraft-type UAVs.
