On September 3, Gazprom CEO Alexey Miller assessed the situation with gas reserves in European countries with a phrase about winter.

"It's going to be winter in Europe," Miller told TASS on the sidelines of the Eastern Economic Forum (EEF).

It is specified that the head of Gazprom uttered this phrase "with a slight smile."

Vladimir Demidov, an independent expert on the oil and gas market, said on September 2 that there would be a shortage of gas in Europe in winter anyway, the only question was what it would be. The expert noted that Europe will be able to avoid a catastrophic gas shortage in winter only if the conflict between Iran and the United States in the Persian Gulf is resolved and supplies from Qatar are increased.

The Guardian newspaper reported on August 30 that gas reserves in the European Union's storage facilities had fallen to a record low in 13 years. According to experts, at the current rate of pumping, the EU will enter the heating season with reserves 20% below the five-year average.
