- VK Video research has revealed the desire of 83% of Russians to make money on video blogging
More than 83% of Russians would like to earn money by creating video content, 6% have already turned a blog into a full-fledged source of income. This is stated on September 1 in the VK Video research.
According to researchers, almost 60% of Russians already have at least minimal experience in creating content.: 14% publish it regularly, another 27% do it from time to time, and 19% previously tried to blog, but stopped. The dominant motivation is financial: 65% want to earn more, 44% want to turn hobbies into income.
Attitudes towards blogging vary depending on age. For teenagers, the opportunity to become visible is more important, as 30% of respondents aged 14-17 answered. The 18-34-year-old audience is more likely than others to be interested in developing a personal brand (23%). Among Russians over 55 (41%), content creation is considered a way to share their experience and expertise.
Travel became the most popular topic for the start of the video blog – 25% of the respondents chose them. The top three also included food and cooking (22%) and humor (20%). There is a noticeably higher interest in games, lifestyle, reactions, and reviews among young people. The older audience is more likely to choose topics related to cooking, regions of residence, as well as knowledge and experience.
Despite the high interest in video blogging and the desire to earn money, the respondents admitted that they needed practical help. More than half of the respondents (52%) believe that a simple and clear guide on the first steps would help them start blogging. Another 41% are counting on help with promotion, 34% – on platform support for new authors, and 32% – on simpler tools for shooting and editing.
The request for support is especially noticeable outside of the largest cities. In small towns, residents are less likely to create content and more often face the question of how to turn it into a source of income. In villages and towns, only 6% of respondents regularly publish content, while in Moscow, St. Petersburg and cities with a population of 17-19%.
"Stable coverage is more important than a fleeting hype, so simplify communication with you by specifying clear contacts. Choose your advertisers carefully so as not to undermine your reputation. Novice authors should take the initiative themselves: offer their services to agencies, send statistics. But the main thing is the quality of the content that keeps the audience and generates revenue," Anastasia Desortseva, Director of Influencer Marketing at Hate Agency.
On August 24, VK Education announced the launch of two new products — a "Teaching" one with practical recommendations for implementing digital services in education and a "Summary Book" with checklists and competence maps for beginners in IT. In addition, the programs are conducted by more than 300 active employees of the company, and the best graduates receive priority when selecting for paid internships and employment at VK.
