Ushakov reported on the topic of the one-on-one conversation between Putin and Erdogan in Bishkek

Russian President Vladimir Putin and Turkish leader Recep Tayyip Erdogan held face-to-face talks for almost an hour and a half during a meeting in Bishkek. The main topic of the dialogue was the situation around the Black Sea. This was announced on September 1 by the assistant to the Russian leader, Yuri Ushakov.

"As far as I know, the main topic was the situation around the Black Sea," Rossiyskaya Gazeta quoted him as saying.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov added that the duration of the meeting between the two heads of state was due to the fact that difficult topics were discussed during the talks on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO).

Most of the meeting of the heads of state was held behind closed doors. In the open part, the heads of state discussed economic cooperation and the implementation of infrastructure projects, including the construction of the Akkuyu NPP. In addition to the situation in the Black Sea, Putin and Erdogan also discussed Ukraine and issues of trade and economic cooperation at the Ala-Archa State Residence in the Aksakal Hall.

On the same day, Putin called Turkey one of Russia's privileged partners, both in the foreign policy and economic spheres. There is also a significant potential for cooperation between the two countries in the cultural and humanitarian sphere, Putin noted. Erdogan responded by stating that the current negotiations are of great importance, as relations between Ankara and Moscow are developing rapidly.
