On September 1, Vladislav Davankov, Vice Speaker of the State Duma and first deputy head of the New People faction, visited the ruler in Moscow with his school children, where he discussed with the parents of students the idea proposed by the political force to make Knowledge Day an official weekend.

He noted that adults most often solve the problem of how to take a child to school on the first day of school and get to work. According to one of the proposals, a parent will be able to take a day off on September 1 instead of another holiday, for example, one of the New Year's holidays. At the same time, the salary will be saved, and you will not have to take time off. The initiative will not entail additional costs for the budget.

"We believe that this day should become an official holiday so that children can celebrate it with their parents and go to school. The New People Party has done a lot for schoolchildren and their parents. For example, for two years now, 9th and 11th grade students have been able to retake exams. This year we are trying to make it possible to retake two exams," Davankov stressed.

The New People Party is also promoting other initiatives, including the transfer of parent—teacher conferences to an online format and automatically placing a child in a kindergarten queue from birth.

On September 1, Russian President Vladimir Putin addressed Russian schoolchildren, students, their families, as well as teachers and lecturers on the occasion of Knowledge Day. The Russian leader sent separate congratulations to the first—graders, noting that the beginning of the school year is always a special holiday that is filled with attention and hope, bright and kind feelings that unite all generations.
