- The Indian Business Alliance noted the growth of trade and economic ties with the Russian Federation
Trade and economic ties between Russia and India have already begun to grow. This was announced on September 1 by Sammy Kotwani, President of the Indian Business Alliance, to Anton Zolotnitsky, a correspondent for Izvestia, on the sidelines of the Eastern Economic Forum 2026.
"India and Russia are strategic partners. Now this political trust needs to be turned into business cooperation. And we see that trade and economic ties have already begun to grow," he said.
Kotwani noted that it is important for entrepreneurs to invest in business and in the development of the Far East, as it is the "gateway to India." He added that the Indian government needs to support small businesses and provide additional support to shipping companies.
"Now is the time to support shipping companies in order to reduce the cost of transportation, and so that more representatives of small and medium—sized businesses can come to this country," Kotvani concluded.
Yesterday, Russian President Vladimir Putin, during talks with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Bishkek, noted that trade and economic cooperation between Russia and India is developing, and the countries' trade turnover has increased by more than 2%. According to Putin, the countries' relations continue to strengthen thanks to the personal attention of the Indian Prime Minister.
