In Poland, teachers went to a street protest demanding higher salaries

Several thousand Polish teachers have staged a massive street protest in Warsaw in front of the Prime Minister's office demanding a significant increase in salaries and a change in their calculation system. Footage of the protest action on August 31 is published by Izvestia.

"One salary is not enough. And with every paycheck, everything gets a little more expensive, right? Therefore, it is impossible to live on what we earn — we need additional income," said Alina Voszynska, a participant in the campaign.

The head of the Polish teachers' union, Slawomir Broniartz, told the rally that the civil draft law "Decent wages and high prestige of teachers" developed by the organization has been awaiting consideration by the Polish Sejm for more than two years.

The protesters are demanding that salaries of education workers be legally linked to the national average salary. Bronyazh stressed that the indexation of payments proposed by the authorities for 2027 by only 3% categorically does not suit teachers. During the demonstration, activists continuously broadcast an archived video recording of Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk's promises to speed up work on the frozen bill, chanting demands to stop making empty promises and move on to real action.

The Polish edition of Portal Spozywczy reported on June 23 that a protest rally of farmers who insist on holding negotiations with official Warsaw has started on the S3 motorway near the Gryfino interchange. According to the newspaper, farmers blocked the roadway with tractors in both directions — towards Szczecin and Gorzów Wielkopolski. As specified in the publication, farmers are seeking decisions from the authorities aimed at increasing the profitability of agricultural production, and do not intend to curtail the campaign in the near future.
