A detachment of ships and support vessels of the Northern Fleet under the leadership of Vice Admiral Oleg Golubev left Severomorsk and set off on a long-range cruise through the waters of the Arctic Ocean. This was announced on August 31 by the press service of the Northern Fleet.

The detachment included the ice patrol ship Ivan Papanin, the large amphibious assault ship Kondopoga, the rescue tugboat Pamir and the marine tanker Sergei Osipov.

"The crews of the ships and vessels are ready to perform their tasks. Various measures will be worked out in the Arctic, including ensuring the safety of Russian maritime navigation along the Northern Sea Route," said Captain 2nd Rank Alexander Zinoviev, chief of the marching staff of the Northern Fleet's warships and support vessels.

Before setting out on the cruise, the crews of the ships and vessels underwent the necessary training and completed a set of tasks in the Barents Sea as part of the training program for ships and vessels of the Russian Navy.

The safe exit of the ships and vessels of the detachment from their bases was ensured by the mine-sweeping group of the Kola Flotilla of the heterogeneous forces of the Northern Fleet.

The press service clarified that in the coming months, the ships and vessels of the detachment will perform tasks as part of a long-range cruise in the Arctic Ocean. For the ice patrol ship Ivan Papanin, this trip will be the first in a long voyage.

On August 26, the press service of the Northern Fleet reported that the crews of Ka-27 helicopters of the Northern Fleet's mixed aviation Corps conducted a series of events during a planned tactical flight exercise over the waters of the Barents Sea and the Kola Bay. The crews of Ka-27PS helicopters practiced the evacuation of a conditionally injured person from a nuclear submarine. The helicopter hovered over the submarine, after which a rescue paramedic was brought aboard with the help of a launching device for the subsequent lifting of the victim into the helicopter.
