On August 30, Axios journalist Barak Ravid reported that the US Armed Forces had attacked two launchers on the island of Larek, which is located in the southern part of Iran. He noted that the American military attacked Iranian military facilities. The aim was to prevent the installation of naval mines in the Strait of Hormuz.

IRNA news agency later reported that the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) confirmed information about a US drone strike on an Iranian island, which killed two people. The IRGC added that Iran will respond to the enemy's attack.
