Peskov called energy a constant topic of dialogue between Russia and China.
The topic of cooperation in the energy sector is constantly on the agenda of contacts between Russia and China, while each side defends its own interests. This was announced on August 30 by Dmitry Peskov, the press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation.
A Kremlin spokesman answered a question from reporters about whether Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping would discuss the Power of Siberia–2 project on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit.
"The topic of interaction and cooperation in the energy sector is constantly on the agenda of Russian-Chinese contacts. This is a mutually beneficial cooperation. Each country, of course, defends its own interests. At least we will continue to do this. Our Chinese friends will continue to do the same," Peskov said in an interview with reporters.
The presidential spokesman noted that such an approach is a normal process for the two neighboring countries, which act as privileged partners and allies.
Andrei Denisov, first Deputy chairman of the Federation Council's International Affairs Committee and former Russian Ambassador to China, said on July 24 that economic cooperation between Russia and China continues to strengthen despite external pressure, and the bilateral partnership covers trade, investment, industrial cooperation and major infrastructure projects.
