Fico called the support of Ukraine by the European Union a huge strategic mistake

Financing Ukraine is a huge strategic mistake of the European Union (EU), as well as all its actions in terms of supporting the fighting. On August 30, Prime Minister of Slovakia Robert Fico announced this on the air of the Saturday Dialogues program.

"The EU is making a huge mistake by betting on increased armaments and Russophobia. I talked about this in my speech today. If we want peace and security in Europe, we can achieve this only with Russia, and not without Russia, or, God forbid, against Russia," he said.

In addition, Fico noted that the Russian Federation should not be demonized and ousted from the European environment. He added that the EU does not need Russophobia and increased armament, but diplomacy. Fico stressed that the work of politicians is negotiations and meetings. According to him, the actions of the United States and the Vatican aimed at resolving the conflict through negotiations can be called reasonable. The Slovak Prime Minister also stressed that these countries demonstrate to everyone that Russia is a global player.

Fico said that the EU, by supporting the fighting and increasing armament, is harming Ukraine first of all. The economies of many European countries are also suffering, he added.

Russian President and Slovak Prime Minister to discuss oil and gas supplies

On April 28, Russian Defense Minister Andrei Belousov said that the European Union (EU) was increasingly plunging into the conflict in Ukraine with its arms supplies to Kiev. He noted that Moscow monitors all production and logistics supply chains of European weapons and deliberately makes them public. The minister cited the example of a list of enterprises in Europe published in the media that produce and supply attack drones and their components to Ukraine.

The New York Times wrote on April 25 that European leaders have lost influence on the Ukrainian conflict and do not know how to lead Kiev to victory. As the newspaper wrote, because of this, they have no choice but to finance the Ukrainian army so that it can hold out for some more time.
