Stubb stated the need to resume the dialogue between Europe and Russia

Europe should strive to resume political dialogue with Russia, despite the remaining differences. This opinion was expressed by Finnish President Alexander Stubb on August 29.

"I believe that someone in Europe <...> I must resume dialogue with Russia in order to understand what is happening there. We need to talk to each other on a political level," he told the Bild newspaper.

Stubb expressed concern that the lack of dialogue with Russia could lead to a distorted perception of what is happening in Europe. In his opinion, in such a situation, Moscow may mistakenly interpret the situation as the emergence of new threats, which in reality do not exist.

Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski said on August 28 that European countries should resist the temptation to enter into premature negotiations with Russia to resolve the conflict in Ukraine. Sikorsky also said that supporters of the resumption of political dialogue with Moscow hope for a reduction in global tensions, which, in his opinion, will not happen in the long term.
