Fraudsters can use the launch of a single QR payment code to steal money and data from Russians. This was announced on August 30 by Sergey Shcherbakov, Technical director of the Stakhanovets company.

"With the introduction of a single code, the situation is changing. The cash register area is becoming easier, and with it the legend of the fraudster — now it's enough to paste one fake sticker on top of the only legitimate code," the expert said in an interview with RIA Novosti.

According to him, attackers can substitute QR codes at cash desks, create fake payment pages and send messages allegedly from banks or the National Payment Card System (NSPK) with requests to confirm transactions.

On June 19, State Duma deputy Dmitry Svishchev announced that from September 1, a universal QR code for payment for goods, works and services in shops and restaurants will begin operating in Russia. After scanning, the user will have access to various payment methods, including SBP, banking services and with the support of the digital ruble. Svishchev noted that the introduction of a single QR code will simplify payment at cash desks and strengthen competition in the payment market.

Dmitry Dubynin, CEO of NSPK, said on June 3 that the universal QR code for buyers, which will be introduced in Russia on September 1, will simplify non-cash payments. Answering the question about when the technology will become widespread, he noted that it will depend on how quickly it will be possible to re-equip banking networks and organize the reception of all trade and service enterprises.
