The operators of the Molniya-2 unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) of the North group of forces attacked a fortified stronghold and dugouts of units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) in the Kharkiv region, as a result of which they were destroyed. This was announced by the Russian Defense Ministry on August 30.

The Defense Ministry noted that UAV strike crews regularly hit enemy armored vehicles, including foreign-made equipment, as well as ammunition and fuel depots and personnel. The use of drones makes it possible to disrupt rotations and deter counterattack attempts, while providing support for the offensive of assault units.

During the regular observation of the terrain and enemy positions on the line of contact, the military deployed aerial reconnaissance. After studying the identified target, its coordinates were received by the calculation of the attack UAV of the RCBZ unit of the 7th Guards Separate Motorized Rifle Regiment of the 11th Army Corps of the North group of forces.

"We are actively monitoring the area. Both at night and during the day. <...> We have nothing left without attention," said the commander of the UAV platoon with the call sign Vibis.

As a result of the strike, the fortified positions of the enemy were destroyed, and the personnel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine were destroyed. This was achieved due to the effective characteristics of the warhead and the well-coordinated work of the calculation. Thanks to the actions of the calculation of the BPS unit, one of the enemy's strongholds was destroyed, which had previously held back the advance of the assault units.

The Russian Defense Ministry said that Lightning operators hit various enemy targets, including military equipment, artillery systems, supplies, field depots and firing positions.

The Molniya-2 drone is equipped with an ejection system that allows it to be launched from almost any position. A special compressor pumps air, after which a powerful air pulse pushes the device into flight. The drone is controlled through special glasses on a principle similar to the control of FPV drones.

Before each new launch, military personnel change their base location, which helps reduce the risk of detection by the enemy. Operators of attack drones also use special detectors that detect the appearance of devices in the air and determine their type. Knowing well the characteristics of their own drones, military personnel can quickly recognize who owns the detected drone, the ministry explained.

On August 29, the Russian Ministry of Defense announced that Russian military personnel had established control over three settlements in the Donetsk People's Republic and the Sumy region. The Russian military defeated units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the Defense Forces in the areas of Sadkov, Vakalovshchina, Ulanova and Kiyanitsa, Sumy region, as well as in several settlements of the Kharkiv region.
