New decorations have been unveiled at the Moskino Film Park

Moscow has become a center of attraction for all fans and professionals of the magic of the big screen. As part of the International Film Week, you can now see how ambitious projects are being created in the world's largest full-scale cluster, Moskino. New filming locations have been opened there, and these are not the last big changes that await the park in the future. Maxim Prikhodov, a correspondent for Izvestia, spoke about the development of the film industry on August 28.

Cobblestone streets, and soldiers with swastikas on their sleeves are clattering along them. But these are not Germans, but Finns. It is in Suomi that the action of the new season of the cult TV series SMERSH will unfold, the filming of which has officially started.

This story is about the last days of the war and the selfless work of the Soviet counterintelligence. The front is moving, and the heroes of Igor Petrenko and Vladislav Kotlyarsky, in addition to Finland, find themselves in Krakow and Berlin.

"Every time, the scriptwriters come up with new stories that will be interesting to people. We try to tell them convincingly. What is my task as an employee of SMERSH? To win and survive," said theater and film actor Vladislav Kotlyarsky.

Filming takes place at the Moskino Film Park. This is a giant film studio in New Moscow, where 111 projects were shot in 2026 alone, and 260 different films and TV series in total.

The film park's toolkit consists of 74 full-scale and interior decorations and eight filming pavilions.

Full-scale scenery allows you to embody any director's idea, whether it's a scene at a racetrack during tsarist Russia or a battle episode in a film about the Great Patriotic War. No special effects or chromatics are needed, because the more natural there is in the frame, the more viewers believe what is happening on the screen.

On the occasion of Cinematographer's Day and the Moscow International Film Week, new locations were opened and presented to industry leaders at the film Park.

"This year we have completed the construction of the third stage, and the number of movie shootings has almost doubled compared to last year," said Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin.

The new decorations include "Brest Fortress", "Provincial Cities of Europe", "Modern Moscow", and "Russian Medieval City". And there are some very exotic places.

So, for the series based on the Strugatsky brothers' novel "It's Hard to be a God", the city of Arkanar was built. This is the largest and most unusual movie location. It is the size of three Red Squares, and its style is eclectic, combining the architectural traditions of the European and Asian Middle Ages. You just can't find it on earth.

"It's hard to be a God" is one of the main film events of the coming autumn. The Strugatsky cult novel about progressors and distant worlds acquires a new visual range.

At the International Film Week, the list of delegates includes guests from abroad. However, the actress Zheng Hanyi, who shone in "Red Silk" and is now starring in "Black Silk," is more likely ours.

"There are a lot of details here, (Everything. — Ed.) very carefully and attentively, and I am very interested. There are a lot of different decorations here," said Zheng Hanyi, the performer of the main female role in the film "Red Silk."

At the same time, the film park should become a point of attraction not only for film industry professionals, but also for ordinary visitors. The National Media Group will build an amusement park here.
