Control over the import of all goods due to ASF has been strengthened in Transbaikalia

In Transbaikalia, control over the import of all goods to Russia has been strengthened due to the deterioration of the epizootic situation. Among other things, hand luggage and luggage of arrivals will be checked, the press service of the regional Rosselkhoznadzor reports.

The measures are being introduced at the Olochi two-way automobile checkpoint, which is located next to the Russian-Chinese border. The decision was made at a meeting of the coordination council of the checkpoint.

According to ChitaMedia news agency, since the beginning of 2026, 5819 outbreaks of African swine fever (ASF) have been registered in wild boars and 461 cases of infection among domestic pigs.

There were also 487 outbreaks of avian influenza among poultry and 2,777 among wild birds. Another 13 outbreaks were caused by the plague of small cattle, 250 by smallpox of sheep and goats.

Earlier it was reported that anti-ASF exercises are taking place in the Russian regions. In particular, they have already been conducted in the Kirov, Sverdlovsk, Ryazan, Omsk, Penza, and Novgorod regions. Mass cases of this disease in the Russian Federation have not yet been recorded, but it is actively spreading in other countries.
