The death toll from the catastrophic flood in Nepal has reached 468 people. This was announced on August 28 by the country's police on the Facebook social network (owned by Meta, which is recognized as extremist and banned in the Russian Federation).
More than 4.3 thousand police officers are involved in the elimination of the consequences of the rampant disaster. Over 1.5 thousand people were injured and rescued. The number of victims who are continuing treatment or have been discharged from hospitals in the Kathmandu Valley has reached 84 people.
According to rescuers, 28 law enforcement officers who participated in the aftermath of the disaster are missing.
Severe flooding in Nepal occurred on August 26. The cataclysm almost completely destroyed the popular tourist area of Rasuva. The country's tourism department has notified that 644 tourists, including eight Russian citizens, are missing. The Russian Embassy has confirmed the information about the missing.
Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova advised Russian citizens to refrain from traveling to flood-affected areas of Nepal. Nepalese authorities have warned of the threat of repeated flooding due to the spontaneous formation of a lake that has accumulated at the place where the river was blocked by a landslide.
