Military personnel of the reconnaissance battalion of the 9th Separate Guards Motorized Rifle brigade of the Center group of forces received important intelligence data during the liberation of the village of Shevchenko in the Donetsk People's Republic. This was announced on August 28 by the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation.

"In the course of completing the tasks, we have obtained very important intelligence for the advancement of our troops. That is, we have identified firing positions, firing points, and the location of the Ukrainian troops," said the commander of the reconnaissance company with the call sign Kopeyka.

The intelligence group operated deep in the enemy's defenses outside the settlement, where it conducted covert surveillance and collected information about the location of units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU).

During the advance to Shevchenko, the scouts captured an AFU militant, who was found to have documents with information about the location of enemy positions. Among the seized materials were handwritten maps of the area with designated dugouts, firing points and routes of movement of UAV units.

In addition, the maps showed the positions of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in several settlements, including Shevchenko, as well as adjacent forest belts and terrain areas. As noted in the Ministry of Defense, the prisoner turned out to have two phones - one personal, the second with maps and coordinates. The information received included information about unit commanders, movement routes, and the military's rotation system.

After studying the materials, they were transferred to the headquarters for further use. The data obtained made it possible to clarify the location of the enemy's strongholds and firing positions, as well as to adjust the further actions of the units in the Dobropolsky direction. The scouts also identified the drone launch sites and artillery positions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

"We were the first groups to come directly so close, and the first group went, one might say, behind enemy lines," said the communications officer of the reconnaissance group with the call sign Debetor.

On August 25, the Russian Defense Ministry reported that military personnel of the special purpose unit of the Center group of forces launched attacks on objects and equipment of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the Dobropolsky direction in the zone of a special military operation. It was clarified that the drone operators acted in conjunction with intelligence units.
