Israeli Chief of the General Staff Eyal Zamir said on August 27 that the IDF faced a problem of insufficient funding. According to him, the current budget situation is detrimental to the combat readiness of the units.

"Unfortunately, these days we are facing a problem regarding the IDF budget. At a time when the IDF is operating on all fronts, we must cope with the lack of funds. This situation damages combat readiness," the army press service quoted Zamir as saying on the Telegram channel.

The head of the General Staff stressed that, despite financial difficulties, there are no plans to reduce the operational forces. He assured that all units will remain fully operational on several fronts during the autumn Jewish holidays, which begin in September.

The Washington Post reported on August 1 that the head of the European Command of the US Armed Forces, General Alexus Grinkevich, warned the military leadership about the lack of forces to defend Israel. According to the newspaper, Grinkevich notified senior officials that without an additional destroyer, he would have to choose between protecting Washington and Tel Aviv.
