Sales of the new version of the Sollers ST8 pickup truck, which is produced in Ulyanovsk based on the JAC model, have started in Russia. The car received a two-liter gasoline turbo engine with a capacity of 224 hp (390 Nm), which the older ST9 model already has, as well as an eight-speed automatic transmission with a torque converter and a manual shift function. The model is available in two trim levels priced from 3.2 and 3.3 million rubles, respectively, the company said in a statement received by Izvestia on August 27.

The new units are offered in the "Luxury" and "Premium" trim levels with an updated interior. The first one includes LED optics, heated mirrors with electric adjustment and folding, electric power steering, cruise control, leather interior trim, heated front seats, climate control, a multimedia system with a 10.4-inch screen and the ability to connect devices, as well as a rear-view camera, front and rear parking sensors. The Premium package is additionally equipped with an all-round camera system and an electric sunroof.

Safety is ensured by a basic set of electronic systems, an uphill start assistant, as well as airbags for the driver and front passenger. The 1520 × 1520 mm cargo compartment with a side height of 470 mm has a protective coating, and the load capacity is 900 kg. The new version of the Sollers ST8 retains Part-time all-wheel drive, mechanical locking of the rear differential and a ground clearance of 210 mm.

The new version will complement the ST8 range of units, which is already equipped with a 2.4 petrol turbo engine (204 hp and 320 Nm) and a two—liter turbodiesel (138 hp and 320 Nm) - all paired with a six-speed manual.

Earlier, on August 17, it became known that the updated UAZ Patriot with an automatic transmission could enter mass production and enter the market no earlier than 2028. According to Ilnur Sakhabiev, CEO of the Ulyanovsk Automobile Plant, UAZ is currently actively working on the integration of the eight-speed automatic into the Patriot. We are talking about the transmission that is installed in Sollers pickups based on Chinese JAC models.
