The exhibition of Kremlin treasures that opened in Hubei aroused the interest of the Chinese audience

The Hubei Provincial Museum in China hosts a special exhibition "Treasures of the Kremlin: from Peter I to Catherine II," featuring 129 exhibits from the collection of the Moscow Kremlin Museums (MMK). As the Xinhua news Agency reported on Thursday, August 27, the exhibition aroused considerable interest among the Chinese audience and confirmed the expansion of humanitarian exchanges between the two countries.

The collection includes state regalia, awards, ceremonial costumes, weapons and silverware created in the XVII–XVIII centuries. The exhibition covers more than 170 years of historical period — from the formation of the Romanov dynasty to the reign of Catherine II.

Elena Gagarina, General Director of MMK, noted at the opening ceremony that she was very pleased to introduce the Chinese public to the bright and glorious pages of Russian history and expressed confidence that the exhibition would make an important contribution to deepening cultural dialogue.

Dmitry Petrov, Deputy Consul General of the Russian Federation in Wuhan, stressed that bringing a valuable collection allows local viewers to demonstrate the unique charm of Russian culture. Curator from the Chinese side, Wei Mian, noted that the preparation of the project took several years, during which the teams of the two countries maintained close contacts on logistics and storage of valuables.

Zhang Xiaoyun, director of the Hubei Provincial Museum, recalled that cooperation with Russian institutions has been actively developing since 2014.

"The Hubei Provincial Museum actively participates in international cultural exchanges. We especially often interact with Russian institutions in the field of culture and museum business. We have established friendly and close relations with many famous Russian museums, including the MMK," the Xinhua news agency quoted Zhang Xiaoyun as saying.

According to him, the friendship of peoples is truly felt only when a person comes to another country himself, learns its features, walks through the streets of cities, tastes cuisine, and most importantly - communicates with people.
