Production of passenger cars has increased in Russia

In the first seven months of 2026, 444 thousand passenger cars were produced in Russia, which is 8.2% more than in the same period last year. This follows from a recent Rosstat report.

As for July, in the middle of summer, output decreased by 1.7% year-on-year and amounted to 65.8 thousand cars. The production of trucks in January — July amounted to 70.2 thousand units, which is 8.4% lower compared to the same period last year. However, in July, output increased by 21.3% to 9.9 thousand trucks.

The production of buses weighing more than 5 tons decreased by 6% in seven months (to 5.1 thousand units), and in July increased by 4.9% (to 0.8 thousand units). Buses weighing no more than 5 tons were produced in January — July by 24.3% less (6.8 thousand units) than in the same period last year, while in mid-summer production soared by 40.6% (up to 1.6 thousand units).

The production of internal combustion engines for motor vehicles in January-July decreased by 16.8% (98.1 thousand units), and in July it increased by 19.1% (to 14.2 thousand units).

The day before, it was reported that AvtoVAZ plans to release several thousand Lada Azimut commercial crossovers by the end of 2026. Azimut's production plan for 2027 is 20,000 vehicles.
