- A Moldovan citizen tried to transport a woman in a mattress across the border of Belarus
A Moldovan citizen tried to smuggle a woman across the Belarusian border by hiding her inside an air mattress. This was reported on August 26 in the Telegram channel of the State Customs Committee of Belarus.
The incident occurred at the Bruzgi checkpoint. The man was traveling to Germany in a passenger car. During the interview in the red corridor, the driver's behavior aroused suspicion among Grodno customs officers, after which the vehicle was sent for inspection using scanning technology.
When analyzing the obtained image, the inspectors found a man hidden in an air mattress in the car interior. The young men admitted that they decided to take such a step because the woman did not have a passport.
The ministry clarified that the actions of the man show signs of a crime under the article of the Criminal Code of Belarus on the organization of illegal migration. The case materials have been transferred to the republic's border guard service for further investigation.
On July 10, the Federal Customs Service of Russia reported the discovery of 177 million rubles in cash during the baggage inspection of a passenger who was about to fly from Makhachkala to Bishkek. It was clarified that the man was trying to smuggle money in suitcases. During the interrogation, the Russian explained that he allegedly received funds from the sale of real estate by presenting a purchase agreement. The customs officers recognized the documents as fake.
