The Russian Armed Forces occupied more than 7 square kilometers during the liberation of Sissy in the Zaporozhye region.

During successful offensive operations, units of the Vostok group of forces completely liberated the village of Nezhenka in the Zaporizhia region, which was an important logistics hub for the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU). Footage of the liberation on August 26 is published by the Russian Defense Ministry.

"The liberation of Nezhenka allowed the units of the Vostok group to take control of an enemy defense site with an area of more than 7 square kilometers," the ministry said in a statement.

During the fighting for the settlement, assault units of the 5th separate tank Brigade of the 36th Combined Arms Army destroyed up to a platoon of enemy manpower, seven armored combat vehicles, 14 vehicles and 13 units of motorized vehicles. In addition, Russian fighters eliminated 12 ground-based robotic complexes and more than 50 heavy hexacopters of the Baba Yaga type.

The Ministry of Defense clarified that the occupied line, which includes the entire territory of the village, significantly expands the bridgehead for the further advance of the troops of the Vostok group in the western direction of the front.

Earlier in the day, the Ministry of Defense reported that the Russian Army had liberated the settlements of Pisarevka in the Sumy region and Nezhenka in the Zaporizhia region. Sissy was liberated by units of the Vostok group of forces, and Pisarevka was occupied by units of the North group of forces. According to the ministry, Russian troops continued to advance and attacked the positions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the Dnipropetrovsk, Zaporizhia and Sumy regions.
