Sales of new passenger cars of European brands in Russia increased by 89%
In the first seven months of this year, 38.3 thousand new passenger cars of European brands were sold in Russia, which is 89% more than in January-July last year. Sergey Tselikov, director of the Autostat analytical agency, told about this in his Telegram channel on August 26.
Almost half of the sales came from two brands — BMW (22.9%) and Volkswagen (22.8%). Audi (18.7%), Mercedes-Benz (15.8%) and Skoda (8.9%) are next in terms of sales. In total, these five brands account for almost 90% of European car sales in the Russian market. The second five included Land Rover (1,681 units), Porsche (1,113 units), Volvo (473 units), Mini (177 units) and Rolls-Royce (143 units).
The most serious positive dynamics was recorded at Audi, whose sales increased by 438%, Volkswagen (by 258%) and Volvo (by 73%).
At the same time, as the expert noted, sales of passenger cars of the French brands Citroen (85 units) and Peugeot (21 units) decreased to a minimum. Moreover, their results were even less than those of luxury Bentley (124 units) and Lamborghini (120 units).
The day before, it was reported that 3,646 used electric vehicles were purchased in Russia in July 2026, which is 2.9 times higher than in the same period last year. For the first time in the history of observations, the secondary market of electric cars has surpassed the threshold of 3 thousand cars sold in a month.
