The Second Court of Cassation of general jurisdiction recognized as lawful the decisions of lower instances on the claim of the Prosecutor General's Office of the Russian Federation to the former Deputy Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation Timur Ivanov on the conversion of state property with a total value of over 1.2 billion rubles. About this on August 26 the press service of the judicial department reported.

"The court considered the cassation appeals of S. A. Zakharova (ex-spouse of Ivanov), LLC Dvoryanskoe Gnezdo <...> The decision of the Presnensky District Court of Moscow <...> and the appellate ruling of the judicial board for civil cases of the Moscow City Court remained unchanged," TASS cites the text of the message.

The cassation also dismissed the complaint of Evgeny Sereda, who claimed to have bought a Chevrolet Suburban car from Svetlana Zakharova.

The Moscow City Court began to consider the merits of the case of the former deputy defense Minister.

On August 7, Izvestia found out that on September 3, the Supreme Court of Russia will review the verdict of former Deputy Defense Minister Timur Ivanov, who was sentenced to 13 years in a penal colony for embezzlement and money laundering. According to the file of the Supreme Court, on July 27, the case was transferred to a judge, and on the same day, a decision was made to schedule a court session for September 3.

Ivanov was detained on April 23, 2023 and charged with large-scale bribery. It turned out that the former Deputy Minister of Defense had concluded various agreements with interested parties in exchange for monetary rewards. For this, the former Deputy Minister of Defense was sentenced to 13 years in prison and fined 100 million rubles.

Some time later, on May 20, 2026, Ivanov asked for his freedom, but was refused. This did not suit the defendant, and he filed a complaint against the relevant decision, which was later recognized as correct anyway and did not cancel. The former deputy head of the Russian Defense Ministry is charged with Part 6 of Article 290 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Receiving a bribe").
