The State Duma proposed to oblige parents to pay alimony to children under 23 years of age

Sergei Mironov, chairman of the Fair Russia party, proposed obliging parents to pay alimony to children under the age of 23 during their full-time studies at colleges or universities. The relevant bill was submitted to the House of Parliament for consideration, and its contents were cited by RIA Novosti on August 25.

"The bill provides for the introduction of the obligation of parents, if the latter do not provide maintenance for their children (under 23 years of age) studying full—time, to pay maintenance (alimony)," the explanatory note says.

Mironov noted that the current legislation provides for the obligation of parents to support children until they reach the age of 18. The only exceptions are disabled adult children.

"The lack of a legally established obligation to support full-time student children puts young people in an extremely vulnerable position," Mironov said.

Relatives fix the amount of payments in advance to protect the rights of loved ones and reduce the risks of conflict.

On August 17, Mironov announced that his faction had submitted to the State Duma a bill on annual payments to families with children before the start of the school year. It is proposed to set payments in the amount of 15.6 thousand rubles for students, 23.5 thousand rubles for the poor, and 27.4 thousand rubles for low—income families with disabled students.
