The media explained South Korea's unwillingness to transfer Patriot missiles to Ukraine

Ukraine has requested missiles for Patriot anti-aircraft missile systems from South Korea, but the republic's authorities have expressed reluctance. This was reported by The Chosun Ilbo newspaper on August 24.

"The South Korean authorities did not dare to supply modern anti—aircraft weapons, citing the need to be prepared for emergencies," the article says.

The publication noted that Alexander Kamyshin, adviser to the President of Ukraine, Vladimir Zelensky, met with officials of the South Korean Defense Ministry in July and asked for Patriot PAC3 missiles, but was refused.

In Kiev, they complain that there is nothing to shoot down ballistics with.

Zelensky announced a day earlier that Ukraine expects to establish production of its own missiles for Patriot anti-aircraft systems in cooperation with the American company Raytheon. According to him, the American side reacted positively to such an idea and has already identified a Ukrainian company that could potentially participate in the project.

The Washington Post reported on August 5 that several European countries refuse to transfer interceptor missiles for Patriot anti-aircraft missile systems to Ukraine, despite their availability. It was noted that the relevant decision was due to the fact that supplies to Kiev could weaken the EU countries' own defenses.
