Summer 2026 in Yekaterinburg was recognized as one of the rainiest in history

In Yekaterinburg, the summer of 2026 took the second place in terms of precipitation in the history of meteorological observations. The total amount of precipitation was 506 mm. This is 211% of the climatic norm.

Yekaterinburg was 14 mm short of an absolute record in this indicator. The leadership was in 1937, when 520 mm of precipitation fell in the capital of the Urals in three summer months.

In June of this year, the norm was exceeded almost three times: 198 mm fell instead of 72 mm. It also rained in July and August, 176 mm and 132 mm, respectively, with a norm of 93 mm and 75 mm.

According to meteorologist Alexei Pulin, referred to by the news agency " <url>", such indicators were recorded in the Urals for the first time in 89 years. It is possible that the precipitation record will be broken in the coming days: rains are expected again in the week from 24 to 30 August.

Earlier, forecasters warned that August 2026 in Russia promises contrasts: heat waves can be replaced by cold snaps, and clear skies with showers and thunderstorms.
