A photo exhibition dedicated to the Day of Russian Cinema will be opened in Moscow

In August 2026, a photo exhibition dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the legendary composer Alexander Zatsepin opens on Gogol Boulevard for the Day of Russian Cinema.

Alexander Sergeyevich Zatsepin is a legend of Soviet and Russian cinema, one of the most sought—after composers of the post-Soviet space, the author of hits that have become the cultural code of several generations and united people for decades.

On the one hand, Alexander Zatsepin's compositions have become the hallmark of such films as "The Caucasian Captive", "The Diamond Hand", "Ivan Vasilyevich Changes his Profession" and dozens of others. On the other hand, the songs based on his music have outgrown the films for which they were created, and have become classics that millions know: "There is only a moment", "This World", "Where childhood goes", "The January blizzard rings" – there are no people in our country who have never heard these melodies..

The street exhibition was created under the direct curation of Alexander Sergeyevich Zatsepin himself and is written in the first person. The organizer of the project is the Moscow Directorate of Mass Events, a subordinate institution of the Moscow Department of Culture. Visitors can see unique photographs from the family archive, which cover the century-long history of the composer's life.

Born in 1926 in Novosibirsk, studying at a music school, vacationing with his parents in Sochi, moving to Omsk, growing up in Alma Ata, moving to Moscow, which became fateful, and taking his first steps as a film composer - interesting facts from his biography are complemented by archival photographs carefully preserved decades later.

Professional activity was also not ignored — the stands feature photos from tours, creative meetings, working moments and even the celebration of the anniversary in the Kremlin.

The second part of the exhibition is dedicated to films and animated films, the music for which was written by Alexander Sergeyevich Zatsepin. The audience will be presented with vivid stills from the films and quarcodes with the opportunity to listen to both legendary and unexpected compositions from later works.

The exhibition will be an immersion into the composer's creative biography and will be interesting for both fans of his works and visitors who will be able to immerse themselves in the musical magic of cinema for the first time.
