FIFA fined the Argentine Football Association for $321 thousand following the results of the World Cup

The Disciplinary Committee of the International Football Federation (FIFA) has issued a fine of $321,000 to the Argentine Football Association (AFA) following the results of the World Cup. The resolution was published on the official website of the organization on August 21.

The sanctions are related to actions of an "unsportsmanlike nature" that occurred after the semi-final match in which Argentina beat England with a score of 2.:1. After the game, the Argentine football players unfurled a banner with the inscription about the ownership of the Malvinas (Falkland Islands).

FIFA called the behavior of the national team incorrect, seeing in the incident a manifestation of discrimination and racial insults. According to the committee's decision, $100,000 of the total amount of the fine should be used to implement an anti-discrimination plan. The AFA is also ordered to hold two matches with a limited number of spectators (50%). The latest measures have been suspended for the time being, taking into account the probation period.
