Vladimir Golubev, President of the Russian Cynological Federation, told us what to do with a dog at home when there is no time for a walk. In an interview with Radio 1 on Friday, August 21, the specialist urged not to worry if sometimes circumstances do not allow for a long walk with the dog.

According to him, the main thing is not to leave the dog unattended and offer her classes at home. A pet needs not only physical, but also intellectual activity: even 15-20 minutes of properly organized games help compensate for a shortened walk.

One of the best options is search games. You can hide small pieces of food or treats in different places of the apartment and invite the dog to find them. This activity uses the sense of smell, requires concentration and helps the pet to spend energy.

Various puzzles are also suitable. For example, you can wrap treats in a towel and tie a few loose knots, or freeze the usual food with a small amount of meat broth. At the same time, all additional treats must be taken into account in the daily diet.

Joint games with the owner, training and learning new commands are also useful. Even a few minutes of such communication give the dog an additional mental load.

At the same time, Golubev stressed that home classes are not able to completely replace walks. Fresh air, new smells, interaction with the environment and physical activity are necessary for a dog on a daily basis. However, if the walk had to be shortened due to the weather or lack of time, games and training will help the pet to spend the day actively and usefully.

Golubev on August 18, in a conversation with RT, warned that regular smoking by the owner in the apartment could cause a pet to have a number of diseases, from asthma to cancer. According to him, the only way to protect a dog is to smoke outside. At the same time, he advised against petting dogs during sleep. In a conversation with the Moscow City News agency, the expert noted that an unexpected touch can frighten an animal and provoke a defensive reaction.

In July, dog handler Vladimir Urazhevsky advised against having large, sled and shepherd dogs in the apartment. In particular, he explained that the conditions of detention should correspond to the characteristics of the breed. The Central Asian Shepherd dog will be cramped in the apartment, and Siberian huskies need long walks, according to 360.ru .

At the same time, Polina Parfentieva, a cynologist and zoopsychologist at the network of veterinary hospitals, told whether dogs that look good-natured should be feared. According to her, care should be taken with any animal, regardless of its size or appearance.

In May, Urazhevsky, in an interview with NSN, stated that the trend to ban walking more than two dogs at the same time began in St. Petersburg and reached Moscow. In his opinion, this is a stupid ban that has no place in the civilized world. He also called the situation when large dogs are being walked by small children unacceptable.
