The number of diesel passenger cars has been calculated in Russia

Of the 47.7 million passenger cars registered in Russia, only 6% have a diesel engine. There are 2.86 million such cars in the country, Sergey Tselikov, director of the Autostat analytical agency, reported on August 21 in his Telegram channel.

Among cars under the age of five, diesel vehicles account for only 2.5% of the Russian fleet.

As the expert explained, such a low volume of diesel cars is due to the fact that the vast majority of Chinese cars have a gasoline or hybrid engine. The share of diesel from Chinese brands barely exceeds 1%. At the same time, it is Chinese cars that primarily replenish the fresh Russian fleet.

The highest proportion of models with diesel engines in the Russian fleet was recorded by British (64%), Swedish (33%) and German brands (20%). The fleet of Japanese cars consists of 7.4% diesel cars, Korean — by 7.1% and French — by 6%. Among American-made cars, diesel accounts for slightly less than 3% of the Russian fleet. The share of diesel in the fleet of Russian brands is the lowest — only 0.3%.

As reported yesterday, the share of new passenger cars with diesel engines in the Russian car market rose to 1.7% in July and the first half of August, compared with 1.4% in the first half of the year. The share of the secondary market also increased from 5.9% to 6.3%.
