The Rox car brand has announced a new Lava crossover
The Chinese company Rox Motor has announced the debut of a new crossover called Lava, which will have its world premiere in 2027. This is stated in the message of the Russian representative office of the brand, which was received by Izvestia on August 20.
It is stated that the Rox Lava will receive an expanded set of off-road options: engineers have strengthened the chassis and adapted electronic control systems to work in difficult road conditions, while maintaining the comfort level, the company said. There are no photos of the model yet, representatives of the brand have published only a sketch depicting a promising novelty.
Rox Motor's key investors include aluminum giant Weiqiao Pioneering Group and private investors from the UAE, including the royal family. Industrial enterprises are located in Shanghai and Abu Dhabi, and car assembly has recently been launched at the Avtotor plant in Kaliningrad.
The production of Rox cars at Avtotor began with a model with the index 01, which has been officially sold on the Russian market since the beginning of 2025 in an imported version. Prices for localized models are scheduled to be announced in August, and sales will begin in September. In October, production of the Rox Adamas model, which is a more expensive and upgraded version of the 01, is scheduled to begin at the Kaliningrad plant.
Current Rox models have a sequential hybrid system, where a 1.5-liter internal combustion engine acts as an electric power generator, and movement is carried out by electric motors that transmit thrust to all wheels. The total power of the two Rox 01 electric motors is 476 hp (740 Nm), they are powered by a CATL traction battery with a capacity of 56 kW/h. Acceleration from zero to 100 km/h takes 5.5 seconds, and the maximum power reserve in hybrid mode reaches 1,115 km on the WLTC cycle. The price of the car starts from 8.35 million rubles.
The day before, the Geely EX5 crossover in the new version of the EM-R with a sequential hybrid powertrain went on sale in Russia. The model is offered in two trim levels priced from 3.46 million and 3.81 million rubles, respectively.
