The Russian army liberated Nikolaipolye and Matyashevo in the DPR

The Russian armed forces have liberated the settlements of Nikolaipolye and Matyashevo in the Donetsk People's Republic. This was announced by the Russian Defense Ministry on August 20.

"As a result of active actions, units of the Southern Group of forces liberated the settlement of Nikolaipole, Donetsk People's Republic <...> As a result of decisive actions by units of the Center group of forces, the settlement of Matyashevo, Donetsk People's Republic, was liberated," the ministry said in a statement.

The Defense Ministry also reported that units of the Vostok group of forces successfully advanced into the depth of the enemy's defenses, defeating the manpower and military equipment of two amphibious assault and one assault brigades, two assault regiments of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU), as well as a marine brigade.

On August 18, Russian troops liberated Orekhovatka and Krasnopodillia in the DPR. In the direction of the village of Krasnopodolye, enemy soldiers lost over 355 militants, eight vehicles, two armored combat vehicles, as well as two artillery pieces and an electronic warfare station.
