- Ukrainian businessman Ermolaev stated that he did not understand the reasons for the assassination attempt on him.
Ukrainian businessman Vadim Ermolaev said in an interview with CNN on August 20 that he did not understand the reasons for the assassination attempt in Monaco.
"I am not a conflicted person. I've always tried to avoid sharp conflicts, so I don't understand why this happened," he said.
The businessman added that he could not connect the incident with the imposition of Ukrainian sanctions against him, as this would mean the involvement of government agencies in extrajudicial executions, which he "simply refuses to believe."
"I think it was an assassination attempt. Someone privately hired military intelligence specialists who know how to conduct such operations, and they took it for the money," Ermolaev admitted.
The head of the Other Ukraine movement, the former leader of the Opposition Platform — For Life party banned in the country, Viktor Medvedchuk, said on July 10 that Ermolaev was the victim of a terrorist attack by the Ukrainian special services in Monaco, as he planned to speak in the European Parliament and reveal Kiev's corruption schemes. This was also stated by Claude Monique, an employee of the French foreign intelligence Service and co-founder of the European Center for Strategic Intelligence and Security.
The assassination attempt on Ermolaev took place on June 29 and was the first terrorist attack in the history of Monaco, whose Prince Albert II condemned the incident. As a result of the incident, in addition to the entrepreneur himself, his 13-year-old son and companion Anna Nasobina suffered, whose legs were torn off. Nice Matin reported on July 4 that Ermolaev had come out of his coma.
