The bodies of the climbers who disappeared in 1992 were found on a melting glacier in the Swiss Alps

The bodies of two Belgian climbers who disappeared in the Swiss Alps 34 years ago have been found and released from the melting Trift glacier. This was reported on August 19 by CBS News TV channel with reference to the local police.

"On July 26, a tourist reported that he had found two bodies on a glacier in southern Switzerland, near the Italian border. The bodies were taken to the Wallis Hospital Institute of Forensic Medicine in Zion for identification. <...> A direct comparison of DNA profiles has officially established that these are two climbers who disappeared in 1992," the publication says.

It is noted that at the time of the disappearance, the Belgians were 39 and 41 years old. The police stressed that the retreat of glaciers in the mountains helps to find the remains of people who disappeared in the mountains several decades ago.
