Kiev disrupted the visit of the Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Rafael Grossi to the Zaporizhia Nuclear Power Plant (NPP). This was announced on August 18 by the official representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Maria Zakharova.

"Another reckless step was Ukraine's decision to disrupt the visit of IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi to the nuclear power plant and the nuclear city of Energodar, scheduled for August 20-21, which was supposed to coincide with the next rotation of experts from the Agency's Secretariat at the plant," she said in a statement on the ministry's website.

Zakharova clarified that the parties had worked out the details of the visit, Moscow had given its guarantees, but Kiev had threatened that it would not vouch for Grossi's safety. The diplomat took this as a new self-exposure of the Kiev regime and called on the IAEA to recognize that threats against the nuclear power plant come from Ukraine.

On August 8, the IAEA reported that the NPP remained de-energized from external power sources for the third time in a week. It is noted that the corresponding shutdown has already become the 25th in a row during the entire conflict in Ukraine.
