RFID tags for unmanned trains have been installed at all stations of the Moscow Metro

RFID tags have been installed and configured at all 29 stations of the Bolshaya Koltsevaya Line (BKL) of the Moscow metro - one of the key elements of the infrastructure for the future of unmanned traffic. This was announced by Maxim Liksutov, Deputy Mayor of the capital for Transport and Industry, on Monday, August 17.

He noted that RFID tags are necessary for the safe movement of unmanned trains. They allow you to accurately determine the location of the train and ensure that it stops at the station. Combined with other technologies, the system will make it possible to launch the first fully unmanned metro line at BKL by 2030 in accordance with the transport development strategy and the instructions of Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin, the Moscow City News Agency reports.

Each RFID tag contains information about the train stop location. When approaching the station, the data is read by a special antenna mounted on the head car, writes Moscow 24. After receiving the information, the car guidance system clarifies the position of the train and ensures smooth braking with an accuracy of 30 cm. After stopping, the system also automatically opens and closes the train doors on the platform.
